With her five octave range listen to how incredibly HIGH the diva Yma Sumac sings. INCREDIBLE!!! This is from the all-star production of Stephen Sondheim's Follies in 1990 starring Juliet Prowse, Shani Wallis, Susan Johnson, Karen Morrow, Dorothy Lamour, Yma Sumac, Jackie Joseph, Denise Darcel, and others. Directed by Fran Soeder.
She never lost her voice or her amazing stage presence and this 1990 performance proved for all time that her artistry was not a trick.

Amazingly, she kept the voice and the range to the very end. And her stage presence, poise and power. She was very talented and very wise but I think life was never easy for her; her mentor and husband expected a lot and never provided much nurturing and comfort from what people who knew them said.

I was there. The sound of that voice in the theater was eerie and beautiful and sad ... the way the show itself is. Magical stuff. Thank you for posting!
