@aleks138 true, but i was following the advice of some of friends. it worked out well.

@bigbudha168 I just take the whole support off. Just an extra 10 minutes, but it makes it much easier.

@aleks138 did mine took one hour and 45 minutes. take the bumper off unscrew the radiator support, pull the support about a 9 inches and you have all the room you need.

@RiggsRVS good luck with the jello thats going to from in your cooling system. i mean no disrespect, but i have seen the jello for my self. but if it works for you thats cool.

Just did my radiator on my 1997 2.8 A6 Avant Q and found that it takes 2mins for each headlight and 5mins to take the bumper off to get at the radiator mounts and move the a\c condenser out of the way, nice vid. Saving money by doing the repairs myself and learning as well (it took me 4 hours to do my radiator including the time to fix the missing bits on the Nissens replacement radiator)

@biddymagee The timing drive has to be replaced periodically because, chain or belt, they stretch and sometimes break. Timing chains are even harder to change ;)

Hmm, you must be one of those "die-hard" Audi gurus that have been brainwashed into thinking that G12 coolant is the only thing that works well in these cars... fortunately I know better and use the proper coolant for my vehicles no matter what color it is.

while I appreciate everyone's comments please let it be known that I had my reasons for taking the front off (other work I needed to do). I went back and checked my orginal videos and it only took me an extra 20 minutes to take the front off- and it made it infinatlly easier to work on. I'm well aware of the "service position" thanks anyway.

If you arent doing the crank seal, there is no need to remove the whole lock carrier...just move it into service position-Master Audi technician

You may note in the info for this video I stated that I was also taking care of some coolant leaks, having the front off assisted in gaining access to these leaks. Also, only takes about 20 more minutes to remove it completely, and maybe 20 more to reinstall it- working in my own personal garage it extra time is more than worth it. I can understand that a Professional Mechanic would not completely remove it because of time constraints-I'm sure there are many more short cuts I could have taken
