I was invited to perform my song at Broadway's benefit concert for marriage equality on Feb. 23rd, 2009,
alongside the likes of Ellen Degeneres, Harvey Fierstein, Keith Olberman, Carson Kressley, Stephen Schwartz and Cyndi Lauper. The event raised over $400,000 for the fight for equal rights. (tidbit: When I walked off the stage Linda Carter (aka Wonder Woman) kissed me and gave me her phone number.)

  • Matt: I don't think one song has ever moved me (to tears) so much. Thanks. My grandmother said to me about heartache,"It's when you know you're alive."

  • @ohhhjeff: gotta love words of wisdom from Grandma. Mine gasped when she saw me kiss another man in the music video =)

  • Hey Matt, this is such a beautiful song (and video especially). Recommended to me by a buddy in Canada, and love love love it...The lyrics talked to me and my current situation, and give me hope after all..Thanks again!

  • @damienpaulryan: man, that's humbling to hear.

  • Hey Matt! Great song (and barbershop video - wow) ... Chicago is psyched to see you this Friday.

  • @ronreason: that Chicago concert was groundbreaking for me. Seeing you guys crammed into that bar like sardines just to see me sing.... I can't describe that feeling... thank you, Ron.

  • If you love this song, you should also watch another video on You Tube entitled: Matt Alber "End of the World".

    Thanks Matt.

  • @damienpaulryan Even though it's been a year since you wrote this, I wanted to respond. First, I hope your situaton worked out. I/we rode that roller coaster many, many years ago and we did, in fact, fall down. But I expect to be completely over it any day now.

  • @mattalber - You're just lucky to have her there to gasp. BTW, I just heard this song (and about you for the first time about 20 minutes ago) and you are officially my new favorite. You are amazing!

  • Congrats on your Bway debut Mr. Alber :) I really love your song because to me it is unpretentious, powerfully sings the truth. And how appropriate for this weekend's extra special occasion. Bravo monsieur! And um ... amazing that Wonder Woman gave you her # ! I am a now a fan of both her and you. By the way the Messiah piece...you rocked it!

  • Since the world did not end yesterday, is anybody ready to stop listening to Harold Camping?

  • This is the greatest torch song. I have a strange affinity for it.

  • My God, what a voice, what a voice. What power, he could sing the American song book and give us those great voices of the past. A +++++++++++++++++
