  • Great video. Simple advice to improve safety on the mountain. I have never had a backup for rappelling. I just used my device. I will be trying this out soon. Thanks for sharing.

  • Instead of using chord you could use a 60 cm runner

  • @bigphiltheshootist your mountaineering book is deprecated. Leg loop could break. Search about it in Petzl catalog, for example.

  • Yes it is. Check your specs. This is how every mountaineering book including F OF HIlls says you can do. Manufacturer spec also.

  • Attach backup to leg loop isn't safe!

  • Good demonstration , there are a few videos i have seen in which the prusik is too long because it should never come into contact with the abseil device as this will prevent it from locking onto the rope
