  • @abercrombastic Belay loops are not for tieing into a harness. This is a standard of most climbing harnesses I have come across. If the climbing gym is telling you to just go into the loop, they are doing it wrong.

  • A little excessive with the redundancy you created, but there is no way that rope is coming off! Most climbing gym's just have you tie in through the belay loop and follow through with the figure eight.
