Four members of the Boston College Class of 2011 chronicled Commencement Day, May 23, 2011, from daybreak on the roof of the Beacon Street garage to the ceremony in Alumni Stadium.
Some 2,200 undergraduates and 1,300 graduate students received degrees at Boston College's 135th Commencement exercises. In remarks that opened the ceremony, University President William P. Leahy, SJ, urged them to "approach life as a vocation or calling, not merely as a career." Ray LaHood, U.S. Secretary of Transportation, was the Commencement speaker.
