The internet deserves a peace prize. It helps bring us together as a global family so we can dissipate prejudice.
I'm from America. The other day on youtube I talked with a guy from Saudi Arabia about his religion, Islam. He helped me gain an appreciation for it.
Peace itself is the prize.

Shame that billions of people on Earth can't connect to the internet.

@traviswilke I agree. Why are they only looking at what is usually on youtube comments or unambiguous blogs? If you look past those ("those" as in, the ones who people usually don't care about), then the internet has a far deeper good. It helps abolish censorship, share knowledge and ideas, and has truly revolutionized our way of life.
The only serious problem of the internet would be the accuracy of the information, something which the individual needs to tell the difference.

@traviswilke If you see all of the good, the bad goes away? I still think the old "ignorance is bliss" phrase is a little more catchy, but good try.

totally agree with you.

@ShotElite It's foolish to be so pessimistic. The concept of communicating through out the world in mere seconds is awe inspiring. I talk with friends in Israel, Palestine, Romania, London etc. it gives an understanding that no matter the distance we are all connected. We are thoughts carrying themselves across the world to reach other thoughts. I would never have enriched my life so much with out this collective of thoughts being at my fingertips. If you see all of the good, the bad goes away.

We have come as long way but we still have a looooooong way to go as a tribal society that is oft times primitive and violent. I vote NO on this subject.

Am am do you realize that internet it´s just a tool?, by the way not everyone have access to internet, and it doesn´t matter that connect billions of people, i mean you remember that Hitler was elected by the majority, not matter how many people connect some times even the majority is wrong

song id? also, this is a retarded idea.
This kind of bourgeois self-gratification is disgusting. I imagine next the iPhone should get the peace price 'cause it's just so sleek and stylish and really makes me feel like I'm one of the cool kids!

The Internet is just another way to control people.Bringing people together? Only partly true. Most of the time you encounter anonymous people pretending to be something they're not.I remember kids playing outside who now spend most of the time behind a screen. So it also have a desocializing effect on people. It can be a source of information, but also a jungle of half-truths and lies.It has it ups and downs as everything else, but a nobel price? I don't think so.
