"The more original a discovery, the more obvious it seems afterwards."
-Arthur Koestler

Every single day my Chemistry teacher would say to the class "95% of Americans are scientifically illiterate...don't be one of them". That always drove me crazy. He made fun of those scientifically illiterate Americans by saying how easily they would just take any fact by anyone as a true fact without questioning the validity of it. This drove me crazy because this was exactly what he was reinforcing by just giving us a fact and not having us question it.

  • @qweiopasdz Spare me the blathering. The common usage means active disbelief, and at least some dictionaries (besides online ones) agree. Look at the entomology, for God's sake. A-theist. It ain't hard to figure out.

So why the obfuscation? If agnostic applies, why use the word atheist at all? I never did before I believed. But I value honesty and clarity, so what do I know... "the world's all full of grays, man! Pass the bong!"

  • @mmaier2112 What are you talking about? Yes, you hear a lot of atheists claiming there is no god but most atheists are agnostic atheists, including me. I don't believe in god but I don't go around saying it is absolutely impossible that a god could exist because we may never know. But as far as the gods created by religions are concerned, we can rule them out because I don't believe a supreme deity capable of creating universes would be petty and jealous, especially the god of bible.

  • @qweiopasdz You atheists should at least have the decency to argue honestly.

  • @mmaier2112 Atheism does not say there is no god. It just means they don't BELIEVE in god. By that definition, even agnostics are atheists because they don't believe in god/gods.

  • Die in a fire......

  • I remember when this bitch was famous.

  • I didn't believe you, I was going by my own evidence - I think your number is low! lol
