@backagain20101 If you read what I actually said I remarked that in a progressive tax system those that can 'afford' to pay more will pay more. Wealthy people (like myself) already have the benefit of a reduced capital gains rate.

Unions are a completely unrelated topic and the current crisis is nothing to do with taxes. It was to do with deregulation and the reason your deficit is so big has a large part to do with Bush reducing taxes on the wealthy.

@backagain20101 The Federal Reserve has been running it's department successfully since 1913. It has overseen the most prosperous period in American history and along with the abolition of the gold standard, is the best economic event to have happened to the U.S.

I won't even begin to list the problems with a flat tax system, I'll just ask you one question. Which countries currently employ a flat tax system to good effect?

@zebbedi The Fed. can't even run there own dept. Each State has diff. req. for the people of it's State so who better to run it. Now the FLAT TAX.. this ensures that EVERYONE pays there FARE SHARE.. The more you make, The more you pay. simple!!! So if i make 1mill yr I'll pay on that amount. How can you say it ensures more can afford to pay more... That statment realy makes no sence at all..Maybe that way so many Countrys are in trubble. Don't forget unions are a problem too.

@backagain20101 I believe that education is a Federal issue. Your country as a whole has an obligation to ensure that all Americans receive equal opportunity education. Equal access to the American dream.

Flat taxes hit the middle class hardest. A progressive tax system makes sure that those who can afford more pay more. This is a fair reimbursement to the economy that allowed them to prosper. There isn't one economically strong country that employs a flat tax system.

@backagain20101 Not really, this is a public domain and your not exactly a member of congress (hardly constitutes as meddling). I thought as an American you would value freedom of speech. Besides, I spend a lot of time in the U.S, your politics directly affects me. My country did not receive any American bail out money, not sure why you believe that.

@nelson3300 You have a corrupt political system. The revolving door of politicians, bankers and lobbyists makes your governance no better than a banana republic. But guess what....? Your constitution failed to protect your system from corporate America. Mainly because it wasn't an issue when it was written. Your founding fathers were smart enough to to advocate secularism but they could not have forseen this. This is why the constitution is outdated and largely obsolete.
