Huh?!? They don't any the "Godfather" if they aren't the first. Trust me... they didn't start calling it Go-Go when he first played. Like any music, that's a marketing label that came after the music became popular and outsiders started noticing. "Go-Go" was the venue where music was played before it was the music itself. Experience Unlimited and Trouble Funk were Funk R&B acts that saw the success of The Soul Searchers organs/conga/continuous beats had and then grew Go-Go from that.

CHUCK IS DA BEST DAT EVER IT!!!!!

I'm late responding but even though Chuck is one of the best that ever did it and I love him. He is not the first. While I wouldn't call him a pimp through his own admitance he took the sound from the young boys here in DC that were playing gogo and added some wind instruments and his guitar. He made it his own sound and the rest is history.

@Beastlyjohn Oh yeah!!!! Well I have never heard of it before him. Wow You learn something new everyday.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME...GO-GO WAS AROUND BEFORE CHUCK!!! NOW TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DO-HE HELPED TO PUT IT ON THE MAP AND BRING ANOTHER SOUND TO IT. However, I grew up in DC and was listening to Go-Go before Chuck got a hold of it. Glad you like it now. Enjoy!!

Chuck is the MAN! I met a dude from D.C. and he introduced me to several different Go Go artist and I wasn't feelin any of them. When I heard this JAM, I was sold! Even the joints I didn't like before I was starting to warm up to.
Respect and thanks for taking time to comment.
This song got me into gogo in 1988. Before Chuck I was seriously hating on gogo. I love me sum gogo now.
