Far out. I know there is a long-disco version of Sugar Sugar from 1976; by Ron Dante; but not yet on youtube. The Archies was the only group I ever heard do this song until now...

brilliant one of the greatest soul singers ever great post

He turned rubbish lyrics into a song here,
Not my favourite of Wilson Pickett.
There was a UK band who performed this and got more or less rich with it.
Cringeworthy,both versions.

During the 60s and 70s many artists of one genre would re-record a famous song of another style and attempt to have a hit with it. Many country artists did country versions of pop and R&B hits. Many R&B artists did soul versions of Country and pop hits. Many pop artists did pop versions of Country and R&B hits. They saw a good song and hoped it could be introduced to a who new audience. Mr. Pickett not only did Sugar, Sugar but Hey Jude and Love Will Keep Us Together among others.

@psychedelicsam1 Hey bro, check it out- I also mentioned whitey or something, in my first praise for Mr Wilson, and the same douche-bag calls me a racist! OMG indeed- someone has to start taking his medicine for belligerent schizoid-psychosis
Wow. Until three minutes ago, I had no idea that this was a good song. Thanks, Wilson.

Wilson could take on both Betty and Veronica at once.
