Never saw Shep play while I was doing my time....(or did I ?! lol...), but a year or two after I left the Mob he turned up on the bill at a Folk club in Waterworks Rd., Edgbaston about '78/'79. Shep may have been on the same bill as Jake Thackray (or was he on a different night....I dunno...real ale...I was quaffing it large weren't I..) ?!

Still an outstanding song and a great observation of Naval culture. The James Blunt of the Andrew :)

yeah hey were great times,i went on the states trip in 73

@ajpeal He was my watch PO when I was assigned to HQ1 for 6 months when I served on Snakey Blakey, we never had a dull watch.
I remember going ashore with him when we were docked in New Orleans in 1973, surprised I ever got back on board...great times, all sadly missed.

Shep is still as briliant as ever. Remember when he played at Portland Naval Base Fleet Club in the mid 80', going back to the seaman's mess on HMS Active and getting asked to leave the ship because the Wardroom couldn't stand the noise coming from the messdeck!!

16 years of happy days. I wish I was back sometimes. Saw Shep loads of times. See you all in the mess in the sky.
