You can purchase this db4 antenna at www.solidsignal.com for 60 to 70 dollars. But why pay that when you can make one for less than 8 bucks. When you make a db4 you can make another put them side by side and you just made a db8 antenna.

  • No, it is still clasified as a db4 antenna, just in multi-direction. Just something to toy arround with. I didn't have any problems with combining the signals, worked fine. It seemed to do great while it rained. "Two weeks ago it rained almost all week." I had no prob. Thanks to the copper...Thanks for the questions.

  • hey when you made the db8 antenna did you use just a normal splitter that has 2 outputs and one input and connected the 2 db4's in the outs and the in to a tv ,also does it matter if its a cheap splitter , I got one for a dollar , also is it amazing range?

  • Yes, I did use a normal spliter in reverse and the one for a dollar will work as the same as a 5 dollar splitter

  • More dialog and NO crappy music please! Why does everone do this?

  • I agree, it would be nice for instructional videos to have voice instructions instead of music, however, I happen to like styx and this song is good, but it is not needed for this video.

  • @anthonytroop81 Antennas, transmission lines, & [passive] splitter/combiners are all bi-directional. When you gang antennas that are not pointed in the same direction most of the signal does not make it to the transmission line, but is re-radiated instead.

If you want less directivity, you would get better results by just using one 4-bay without its reflector.

  • @bubba55l Yes I know, I was just trying to prove a point....

  • @anthonytroop81 Sigh...joining 3 antennas in 3 directions will not work the same as moving the antenna.

  • Great design. I picked up a butt load of channels i didnt even know existed through the air.

  • I've made another coathanger antenna from a different YT video, but yours looks impressive. "Welcome to the Grand Illusion", "come on in and see what's happening" referring to not only the "dirty little secret the cable companies try so hard to keep quiet **" but also inviting you to "see the show" with this FREE antenna! Great choice in music. haha!

**when I bought my Digital Converter the store had them pretty much hidden from view, as they are shills that sell cable/sat systems for them.

  • Bad ass. Where can you get copper wire in straight rods with no rubber coating? That would make all this easier.

  • Walmart, the cost $, maybe.......4 dollars, not bad.

  • Do you know how to make a vhf antenna? some stations changed over to vhf
