This must be one of the most beautiful opals ever! Found at the Royal Peacock Opal Mine in Virgin Valley, NV. The music is a Glenn Gould recording apparently released into the public domain: http://www.archive.org/details/GlennGould-BeethovenPianoSonatas
O.K. I'll ask...What is the approx value of this log? I realize that the true value of most anything, is the highest amount of money any one person is wlling to pay for it. I'm asking just for a ball park figure, a guesstimate? ThanX Debi

That is THE most impressive limb cast or log, whichever, that I have ever seen. I have a lot of petrified wood that when cleaned up has the most awesome sparkles over the entire specimen when light is cast on it. Amazing but THAT specimen takes top honors.

The question is long does it take a piece of wood to opalize and does that require to be in a damp place? It will dry out if exposed to the sun for a long period of time right?
