Dark Knight helped reinvent the comic book movie.
Watchmen didn't do shit. It was the same fucking thing you've seen before in The Matrix, V for Vendetta & 300 except it was done poorly in comparison.
If your're going to try to be better then all of those movies, at least try to outdo them!

i completely disagree with this. You cant compare these movies/stories to watchmen because they are based on already stablished superhero archetypes with a very linear storyline of good vs. evil. (albeit they are still very good movies.)
Watchmen defies the stereotypical superhero idea in almost every single way in all of its characters, the plot is the opposite of linear, and there is no true villain.
It reinvented the superhero, and it reinvented the superhero movie

I love Watchmen, the layers of complexity and the characters are all packed in a compact 2:30 hours bitter sweet noir movie! it's mature than any average superhero film... and i never had the honor to read the graphic novel!

all they did was prove that comic book movies could make money...except for ang lees hulk, which was an awful mess
watchmen is not claiming to reinvent the comic book movie...it is just claiming that viewers will look differently at the genre after watching it
