@tlb2481 - It's usually a Money Thing, If you can afford 2 goggles or if you can only afford another lens. When I first started I just bought a separate lens and swapped it in/out depending on the light condition. After a few seasons of Buying the same model goggs and various seperate lens, I can head up the mountain with 2 Frames with 2 different lens for any light condition. Retailers should stock gogs and a variety of additional lens.

do you buy the different types of lens seperately or just buy different goggles?

The Persimmon Lens could be equally compared to the standard Amber Lens from any other Manufacturer - say Dragon. But be sure to take note of the coating as this will make a big difference to the performance, and hence cost.
From reading below don't think one manufacturer makes goggs that are considered one size. Example: Dragon make the DX and the DXS (smaller version), Oakley - Crowbar to a A Frame to a Stockholm, gradually getting smaller, Electric EG2 (Biggest Gogg on Market) , EG 2.5, EG1

Oakley carries a persimmon lense on their crowbar frame. Is that the same as amber?

A yellow lens is for low light/overcast/cloudy conditions. The 'iridium' refers specifically to coating made by Oakley - it is a glare reduction coating on the lens which means that when the sun breaks through the cloud and reflects off the snow the iridium coating cuts down the glare, reducing eye strain. In this case you would be looking at the 'HI Intensity Yellow' lens from oakley - a versatile lens for low light and when you get a break in the cloud, but by no means a 'blue bird' day lens.

@mattmax11 yeah whatever. I'm really over goggles. Just get any good goggles. Smith goggles work fine. Everything else may be slightly better and look a thousand times better, but seriously unless you're like an Olympic champ, they don't matter. Snowboarding is an expensive sport and the cooler you look the better you snowboard. Duh, of course that's not true, but that's how half of the people act!

@sydney101luigi you should only buy the lense for the times you will most likely be going out to snowboard
