My Mom's cousin Phyllis is a folk artist. On her cd "Fathomless Tales of Leviathans Hole" she has a song called "My Northern Town" written about her (& my) Hometown, Churchill Manitoba.
on the day of my Aunt Patricia's re-wedding M cousins Lewis, Ryan and I went for a ride to drop off Auntie Flora.
Here is what we did on our way back to the wedding.

  • Hey! This video is awesome! I definitely want to visit Churchill some day.

I noticed that throughout the entire video, not a single person was visible on the streets...why? And what time of the year was this video taken at? How much of the town did you cover? And has the ecosystem there been changing in recent years due to global warming?

  • @AWinterDemise well, we went pretty far. this is at about late dinner hour on a Saturday. about 7 pm. it's a nice quiet town & mostly everyone is probably eating dinner.

I covered quite a few residential streets.

In the video, we actually start, on the same street as we ended, although at opposite ends.

  • talk about going through stop signs' ' are you licensed?

  • @charliematt10

I do have a valid class 5 lisence. but as you may have noticed I am not driving, as it would be a little silly to drive & videotape at the same time. People do use the signage in Churchill, however, during the first take, over half the song was spent at stop signs. We did it one more time when we found some quiet streets and there were no other vehicles on the road.

  • I wanna visit some day. I'm from wpg. Plan to come by car. :-)

  • There are no roads to Churchill...

  • I wanna go back!

  • @MrNeosoul99 yeah, no roads, only a railroad, you can try to buy a ticket so you could get there :)

by the way, can you get a plane ticket from there to North Pole?

  • At 38 seconds they blow through a stop sign

  • Hi Nikki it is Taylor

  • @mralanv Because of where the town is located it would cost way to much to build a road here. building a highway across tundra is not an easy task at all plus all of the ponds and lakes and rivers around here. it would take too much time and cost too much to do.

  • @AWinterDemise Well this year has been a very cold one but to my knowledge not much has changed, although i'm no environmentalist. and as for no one being around, it just depends on what day it is and what time of day it is. on the weekend in the evening you will not see very many people walking around, unless it is nice out.

  • the canadian goverment should invest more on roads to northern cities, we hear so much about northern development, but they haven't done much about it. I know this kind of project costs alot of money and there's environmental issues but they should yet try to build roads to at least 50% of northern towns.

  • @charliematt10 Where the fuck did you think she was driving- New York City?? Oh Yeah, they don;t obey stop signs there either.
