  • she needs to turn out her feet in the front develope position

  • heel forward

  • Im taking lessons this way!

  • I appreciate these videos, thank you for posting.

  • Does someone have tips to get a higher developpe (the best would be tips where I don't have to get my legs all bulky muscled, but anything else is also good.) I

  • you need to have a good core and strength in the psoas muscle. DO NOT use your quads to get your leg up high.

  • this could definitely be better, but i guess i'm one to talk...does anyone know how you keep your leg in the air for so long without it shaking? is there a certain muscle you have to use to do a developpe? I've been working on it for about a year and i just can't figure it out

  • Not sure how relevant some of the finer/technical point criticisms R 4 a beginners ballet video. I seem to remember it was hard enough just standing up straight with legs turned out when I first started.

To be fair to the makers of this video at least you get the idea of what a passé developpe should look like even if the dancer doesnt understand/demonstrate how to draw the foot up through retire to passé correctly and extend using the muscles at the back of the legs rather than the front.

  • yes, you possibly can.

develop is supposed to symbolize an act of "unfolding". your feet could be in first if you like, they could even be in second. Although it's more traditional to start in fifth, which most studios today do. But all you have to do is be able to get your foot off the floor and into a sur-cudehwhatever.

and for god sakes you guys, these are free demonstrations. if you want professionals teaching you the go pay for some classes at a studio.

  • Woo hoo!

    Agreed!
