BULL! I had a four-eyed opossum and HE WAS A GREAT PET! He didn't get along with my ferrets, but he was a character. He Loved eating "Cheetos" with me Late at night! He would get jealous of me petting my ferrets and go back& forth between my hands for "his turn". I have no idea how old he was since I got him as an adult. He only lived 3 years in my care. I miss him...

I don't see anything wrong with having a North American opossum as a pet. They are easy to turn into a domestic raised animal like all those reptiles like snakes and are safer to handle than snakes. And yet we're allowed to have snakes as pets but not the North American opossum? What kind of conspiracy are our national and state governments holding here. Some of their laws are so stupid and don't make a lick of sense. It's like " Do as I say. I don't care what you think. " Greedy dumb*ss idiots!

No. Where I live the Virginia Opossum is NOT CONSIDERED indigenous and therefor a threat to the wildlife that IS considered indigenous, just like our red squirrels. And if I brought in an injured possum or a red squirrel to the local humain society they would turn it away. Go figure
