Paralegal Kristen Sheridan of Parker Waichman talks about what you can do to help your claim.
The Social Security Disability Insurance program is governed by a set of strict rules and regulations -- especially when it comes to making a determination of medical disability.
Medical disability is determined not by a single visit to a general practitioner, but by a steady course of treatment from a specialist (or specialists) in your disability (or disabilities). While your application is pending, continue to see your doctor at least once a month and follow your doctor's instructions to the letter. The documentation provided by these specialists will demonstrate to SSDI the severity of your disability.
These specialists must be willing to state for the legal record that you are unable to work because of your physical or mental disability.
To learn more about the importance of appropriate medical care during the entire time that your SSDI application is pending, I encourage you to watch the video above and to explore our educational website at http://yourlawyer.com. If you have legal questions, please pick up the phone and give me a call. I can answer your legal questions since this is what I do every day. You can reach me at (800) 800-9797. I welcome your call.
