Six Alma College students wrote biblical monologues inspired by Eve Ensler's play, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES (1998) and their own biblical exegesis. THIS MONOLOGUE WAS NOT WRITTEN OR COMMISSIONED BY EVE ENSLER OR V-DAY. After the disastrous period of the judges, Israel begged God for a king. Israel chose Saul for its first king, but God gave his special blessing to Israel's second king, David, "a man after God's own heart." As with many men in politics (even those with God on their side), David's power—combined with his libido—eventually became his downfall, causing suffering to himself and others. (2 Samuel 11-12)
