Virgin will not be going into earth orbit, they are only suborbital - they'd need like 10 times more power to get there. SpaceX on the other hand will have the ability to serve/cooperate with Bigelow.

Virgin = amusement for rich people. Sure, if i had the dough, why not.. but it just up, feel weightless and fall back down again

The thing about government spending, is the huge ammount of red tape government institutions have to put up with. You could probably build a space elevator from all that red tape xD

Actually, they are building the Launcher One, which is intended to be launched from Knight Flight, Spaceship Two's carrier, and carry small sattelite - up to 300lbs I think - into LEO.

Do you need anymore proof of the government's wasteful mismanagement of our tax dollars? Look at what Bigelow Aerospace has done. If they were in charge of building the International Space Station, it would've taken a fraction of the time to build at a fraction of the price. And it would've been an exclusively American project.

100,000 metric tons is 220,462,262lbs... I think this guy meant 100 metric tons which would max out the largest known heavy lift vehicle at around 220,000lbs.
