Sissel, the international singing sensation from Norway, is widely regarded as one of the finest and most talented sopranos in the world. Her crystalclear voice has made Sissel a national institution in Norway. Sissel has sung all over the world, selling over six million solo albums. She contributed the haunting vocal tracks for the soundtrack to Titanic. She has been doing great duets with singers like Placido Domingo, Charles Aznavour, Bryn Terfel, Jose Carreras, Russell Watson, Neil Sedaka and Josh Groban. A very remarkable voice you will only hear once in your lifetime.

WHENCE IS THE GOODLY FRAGRANCE FLOWING

Whence is the goodly fragrance flowing
Stealing our senses all away?
Never the like did come a-blowing
Shepherds in flowry fields of May
Whence is that goodly fragrance flowing
Stealing our senses all away.

What is that light so brilliant, breaking
Here in the night across our eyes?
Never so bright, the day-star waking
Started to climb the morning skies
What is that light so brilliant, breaking,
Here in the night across our eyes.

Bethlehem! there in manger lying
Find your Redeemer, haste away,
Run ye with eager footsteps hieing
Worship the Saviour born today.
Bethlehem! there in manger lying
Find your Redeemer, haste away.

  • Beautiful! She is so talented and graceful.

  • Sissel`s voice is much better than many internationally known sopranos and other big names. Her voice is perfect for classical music and songs like this.

  • JSC1401, ad hominem can very well hold water. Ex. can I explain stupidity by a malfunctional brain. In fact, that's the only way explaining it reasonably. It may not refer to the topic in question, strengthen or weaken any arguments, but it sure hold water.

  • Funny comment, seeing as you were the first to resort to personal attacks.

My original comment was not at all meant as an offensive on you or your opinions, but as what could have been an interesting and respectful discussion. I am sorry that you felt the need to take it to personal levels, and I am also sorry that I let you drag me there as well. I wish you all the best. I will not be commenting on this subject any more.

  • Half a brain is better than none.

I defend your right not to agree with all you read. I expect the same from you.

Haven't you yrt reached the stage in studies where you learn that as hominem arguments don't hold water?

  • If you can judge both writer and singer, surely you can be judged yourself? Or are you above critique?

Repetition is what they teach you in poetry 101, that's true, but if you had half a brain you would understand that tautology of the kind you pointed out IS a kind of repetition, not formally but semanticlly.

Oh, and no, my qualification does not come from the muppets, I actually have a university degree in the field :)

  • Is it the muppets who have elected you judge eternal or does it come from a natural arrogance?

Concerning the translation, can't you see the resemblance?

Repetition, I say repetition is frequent in poetry as a means of emphasis, NOT tautology however.

  • @ JSC1401.

Your first mistake is to seek logic in a religious text. But if you must, let me inform you that all evidence indicates that Jesus was NOT born in December, but sometime in spring/summer, and it was not in the year 0 either, BTW.

Secondly, tautologies are very common in poetry as artistic devices, mostly as a means of emphasis.

Lastly, the text in the info does not match what is sung in the video. Open your ears and you'll understand everything.
