The writer of Genesis 3v16 had a (failed) theory that God deliberately made child birth more difficult, would such an act be worthy of praise? I don't think so ! The real reason for the difficulties of delivery are to do with the evolutionary change between quadrupedalism and bipedalism and the changes to anatomy of pelvis that went with that. In Gen 3v16 was the observation of increase in pain a comparison to how other animals give birth or to the imagined perfect beginning in Eden?
