04-27-07, Atkinson County battled their own blaze, at the Roundabout Swamp in Kirkland, Georgia. This fire took place at the same time as the huge Waycross, Ware County fire. Thanks to all Departments, Agencies, and Volunteers for everything you did to help! ~ Valerie Horton

  • As a firefighter from Ray City I can say we were happy to have helped out. I now have a memorial fire truck with all the names of firefighters who have died in the line of duty from Georgia on it and I am goingto add something about the wild fires on the truck. I have images on my youtube account from the fire feel free to stop by and check them out

  • Good video footage. I gave you 5 stars. The swamp is a great nature preserve, it will all grow back even better now.

  • I was there when all of this was going on I stayed a full 8 day tour. This is one fire I will never forget.

  • i'm forom atkinson county pearson to be exact i remember this

  • yes if you would please...just shoot me a message and ill give you my E-mail...

  • Good vid!

  • Actually, we have a good bit of video of bones left after the fire. It came in from all sides at times, trapping some of the animals, as it almost did some of our firemen. There were LOTS of wild animals lost during this fire, and I would feel safe in saying most were healthy beforehand. This was actually some of the best "hunting land" around in this area. Sad to see so many animals gone.

  • actually there are few to no animal casualties as far as wild animals go, the ones that dies may have been older, sick or just too tired to go anymore.
