Wow it truly takes someone like Josh to make a performance like that as good as it was. Yes I understand it could have been better but with Aretha not showing up for rehearsals, they did a pretty fantastic job:) just my opinion though and I understand that is not the view of most ppl in here. But in my eyes it was amazing :)

This song has always made me cry happy tears until now. Aretha ruins a piece that could very well be the most popular piece of art in this genre right now

Stick to singing this song alone, Josh. Please. OR with the childrens choir from Africa. They were beautiful. God, it looked like she was a baby animal looking for Josh to save her.

Please fix the quality of the song music :-(

Aretha gives me the goosebumps! She is so awesome!

The song is Josh's song. It is obvious Aretha missed rehearsal. For those of us who know the song, her performance is far less than stellar. If you don't know the song & have no musical background, you might think it's ok. I think it is the most uncomfortable I have ever seen Josh. It is a beautiful song and Aretha did it no justice... Josh would never disrespect her and felt it was an honor to perform with her. But let's face it, home girl blew it. Sorry. And what was with that dress?

@RENECELINERENE i believe its the opposite! she didnt even get the words right!

God! Aretha didn't even know the words! Thank God for Josh Groban!

Wow, what is all the fuss about? That was SO much fun! The fabulous JG sharing a stage with ARETHA! Who cares if she didn't rehearse. She added her own beautiful self and awesomesauce to the performance and made it totally memorable. LOVE the smile she gave him at the end. @straightarrow372 said it well.
Admittedly, Aretha wasn't there for the rehearsal so in Josh's words they were 'winging' it.
It didn't change the face that it was a thrill for him to sing with this lady who is a legend in her own right and carried it off in her own style. Actually, the more I hear it the better I like it.
Of course, it helps if the sound quality is perfect and unfortunately that can't happen with personal clips.
Mandela Day posted some -great quality, wonder if it's there?

ok, let me just say that i am first of all, not an aretha fan. everyone's entitled to his/her own opinion ;) yes, it was a thrill for him, and i am glad they both enjoyed it. i am from a place where neither josh nor aretha are very popular, and i do my best to promote great artist, as well as i can , on my own time and money. as i said, everyones entitled to have an opinion, so everything is(should be) a civilized discussion, ok? please, everyone. Thank you for your comment :)

I'm not sure if you thought my comment was uncivilized - if so, my apologies.
But still, I stand by it. Josh would never say anything negative about a fellow performer and certainly not Miss Franklin -he's too much of a gentleman and has great respect for artists that have paved the way.
And he did give his take on the performance. It was "the thrill of a lifetime." Nuff said.

no, don't get me wrong.I didn't say your comment WAS uncivilized, but I had to close the comments for a while because people reacted in a very bad way towards my (and others') opinion. I am the one who is apologizing for the misunderstanding. All I meant was that everyone who comments should be civilized and prepared towards facing opinions that are not the same. You like Aretha, and I have nothing against. it.
And yes, i agree. negativity is not Josh's thing, and it shouldn't be anyone's ftm.
