Sometimes i wish i didnt understand exactly what he meant.

This scene was perfect until his unfitting scream at the end. Doesn't sound like he's hurting, just a loud man yell.

Beautiful and heartfelt. I love this scene, and I cry when he does. AND it's selfish. It's selfish because he is drunk, and it's poorly thought out, and he is only apologizing because she happened into the bar. He means it, he truly does, but it is selfish because he isn't considering the impact this is having on her.
My favorite thing about this scene is you see in it how and why he is charming. You SEE her smirk and be charmed by him. It's great.

Okay, I apologize for the cursing. Sure, it wasn't selfless, but that doesn't mean it was something wrong with the way he apologized. And I agree with your interpretation of the metaphor with the ducks, and I've either misunderstood you earlier, or you've changed your opinion, because I thought you meant exactly the opposite about the ducks. Anyway, let's just agree that no matter what motives he has, that the scene is a very powerful one, and that the message behind is worth exploring.

@EazyMothafuckingE I don't know why you're getting hostile. If it's so obvious, then why did I have to point it out to you? The selfishness is completely relevant to the character and this entire story. The way i see it, the apology is an attempt at some relief from his own pain. Not to say it wasn't sincere, but it definitely wasn't selfless. To me, the metaphor was to illustrate that nothing is exempt from making, or being a victim of mistakes.

@babymistakes That's not the fucking point. He is apologizing and he's doing it sincerely. It's possible to regreat things we have done, and want to make amends for it. And if everything we do comes from a selfish place, what's the point of pointing it out in this particular case? You're just saying the obvious if that's always the number one reason for people's actions.
Such an emotive scene. Shame the film petered out afterwards, mind.

I respect your view on the ending of the film, but your only 20. The ending might seem very different when your 35.
