My Speedway version of the 7x12 Seig mini lathe converted to CNC. Plans for the conversion available here:
http://www.stirlingsteele.com
Here I am repairing some Groen kettle handles by turning new OD, and re-threading 3/8" 24 TPI.

  • How did you get Mach to pick up your turning speed?

  • @jhawkdesign I have an optical pickup that sends a pulse to Mach for every rev of the spindle.

  • Hi, what is the cost of one of this lathe ? thanks.

  • @Mastermind2011 bought lathe from Homier for 199.00 (it was a display model missing some part that I did not need anyways), the materials for the CNC conversion cost about 250.00, already had a controller from my mill set up,

  • @alan0166

Would you sell the "Plans for the conversion"? Thanks

  • @adisharr, No not difficult. I used "normal" tools to do it. Do a Google search and you can find a guide on the process.

  • @alan0166 Hi Alan, was it difficult to do the tapered bearing mod? I'm thinking of doing it myself to my Cummins model. Were the old bearings difficult to remove and/or did you need any special tooling?

  • Hello ALAN is of ARGENTINEAN and I have a lathe of 1mts. among tips, it doesn't work him the box norton, he/she wanted to transform it into CNC.

can the threaded bars of the lathe be used?. or is it necessary to change them?. Does the bar of the main car detach of box norton?, and it is connected to the motor step to step. That electronics uses?. I thank your help.

  • Awesome, Thanks for the insight!

  • my lathe is new and didn't broke and i think is the same like your lathe , the same gears but i don't know if this company who has made the device are publishing it

by ebay because will be more easy to get by ups mail ,my brand is metalworker

how they work with metal gears made by lathe?

do you know somebody who use it?

    thanks

    hernan
