Wow its nice to find someone who's going through the same thing as me. I have sd too. It's something I felt no one could relate to me. The itchy scalp, sometimes feeling some things are crawling in your head. I can never wear a sew in, or do styles that a lot of women can. the large yellowish flakes. my dr prescribed me fluocinonide but not working too well. I am having bad flare ups now. Thanks for sharing your story.

Scalp psoriasis and seborrhea dermatitides of the scalp can be difficult to tell apart. Both are skin diseases thats can affect the scalp. They share similar symptoms such as itchy, red, scaly skin. Usually, the scales of psoriasis are thicker and drier in appearance than the scales of seborrhea dermatitis. if you have scalp psoriasis, maybe mildly on your elbows, knees, hands or feet or may notice subtle nail changes. The American Institute of Advanced Medicine has your solution.

The BEST treatment available are immune suppressant ointment Protopic and Elidel cream. Either will clear up almost anything. Downside: They're both VERY expensive without health insurance [$200. + per 30gr / 1oz tube] and many insurance plans either won't cover the cost or only as a last resort treatment. I had SD bad on my forehead [ front hairline] and face, was prescribed Protopic ointment, after 40hrs it COMPLETELY cleared up. I didn't have another flareup for 5 years!

I have the same thing. I'm 31 and this just started. My hairline gets these scales that look grey in color, it itches, sometimes it feels likes something is crawling in it. By scratching it and touching my face, I started breaking out really bad! I went to the Dr. and they said it was seborrhea capitis, and gave me some type of oily medicine for it but, it does not work. So I was recommended KitiKitit. Kitikiti it is designed for minor scalp irritations and fungus. Great reviews!

@msvangie81 Honestly the only thing that has worked consistently for me is Sulfur 8. Allows me to go 7-14 days without having to shampoo my scalp...but I try to shampoo every 5-7 days depending on my hairstyle. Hope this helps ;)

I was just diagnosed by a dermatologist with psoriasis of the scalp, it is very bothersome and irritating. My scalp is usually very crusty, dry and itchy. I'm so desperate for natural ways to treat my symptoms, as I've learned there is no cure for psoriasis. I want to thank you for sharing this video, I had no clue so many african american women were dealing with this.

@PoeticFiyah Yes, I have come across so many black women who deal with this since making this video. I too am still in search of a natural treatment. Many people have suggested things to me but not everything has worked :( I'm glad my video was of some help. I'll be posting an update to this video soon.

Hi I barely found out I have seborrhea dermitits and I am so scared to death because I don't want that thing to spread all over my body. I only have it on my hair scalp. It's sometimes very itchy so I just take showers since I don't wanna get steroids treatments. Do you know how I can naturally controll it? I am sorry for asking so many questions. I feel terrible. I am so depressed right now.

@000hopefull aww I don't want you to feel depressed. I know it is very frustrating having sd and there is no known cure for it. I suggest using pure natural oils (tea tree, neem, nettle, burdock root, rosemary, lemon, peppermint, etc.) to control the itching/irritation and cleansing your scalp often. Hope that helps.
