2009 Holiday Wish List - "Help Heal with Art"

Cancer patients receive the best possible care at VMC's Sobrato Cancer Center, including treatments that involve the most current and effective technologies, like our Linear Accelerator. Unfortunately, for many patients feeling the anxiety of cancer diagnosis and treatment, the experience of receiving treatment for up to one hour in a large concrete bunker can cause even more stress and discomfort. There is increasing evidence that a patient's surroundings can have an immediate impact on their state of mind and can, in turn, affect their rate of recovery. This special art installation will address the needs of these patients by providing soothing visual images to help them feel more comfortable in the treatment setting and reduce stress.
