a quick, rough walk through of how i created a "matrix" 360 degree rotation shot using 1 camera.

the timing was pretty bad. i spun to fast (definitely want someone to help you spin) and the background plate spun to slow.

even though you can match their speeds to make one revolution in the same amount of time, it is still important to get them as close as possible in original recording.

  • Why do you use jib? Its better?

  • @exes9378 well, by putting the camera on a jib backwards you get a true 360 degree perspective, because you are actually rotating in a circle. if you just spin the camera around on a tripod, or use a panoramic picture there is no parallaxing, and everything is flat. it will look ok, but it's more believable with the depth you get by physicality moving the camera in a circle. • what was it that you spun on???

  • @shapeworkstudios1 it's called a "jib" or boom, camera crane. i bought mine from a guy in California who custom makes them. skycrane.com, his site hasn't been updated in over a decade, so i'm not sure if he is still selling them, but i bought mine in 2004, and it's a solid product, and can be fully disassembled for "easy" transportation.

  • @NickDClements actually I meant when you stood in front of the greenscreen and spun around. what was that thing u spun on?? I'm kinda interested in making the same effect.

  • @shapeworkstudios1 oh, ha! that was just a and old "sit-n-spin" with out the handle lol. but you could just make a rotating platform with a couple boards and a lazy susan.
