Abandoned Water Wonderland

The park changed ownership several times in its last years of operation. From what I was told (and this is second hand information) the park was not winterized properly after its final season and it was cost prohibitive to get back up. A company out of San Antonio Texas purchased it a few years back, and you can tell they could care less about it.

I was there on opening day, 1986 I think. they had some celebrities there, including Deidra Hall, the actress who plays Marlana on Days of Our Lives. She came in a maroon limo. Later on that day there also was a near-drowning in the wave pool. A lady got knocked under the water. They had to do CPR on her but I think she survived.

Funny thing is.... The water in this video was no worse than the water when it was up and running. Minus the plant life lol. Alot if desert dirt in those pools.

We moved right after that. lost touch.... And that snake lol u guys as kids then had no idea the danger of those snakes in that park. The owner bought two king snakes, put them on both ends of the park. They ate the rattle snakes. And every morning my dad and I walked the park and our track killing rattle snakes. 5 a morning easy!!!

I built and ran the Bmx race track that was behind the park. The park owned the land. My brother and I has free run of the park at any hour when ever we wanted. The owner at the time (1996) had a son that went rock climbing and fell from a cliff.... Put him in a coma. For a long time. I never knew what ended up hapining to him. But I know the owner had no intrest in the park after that. A month befor he bought most the slides from the garland wet n wild when it closed. He was going to exspand.

Under the plaform highdive and the zipline is a reserve tank/pool that is 30 feet deep and suplys water to the slides on that side of the park. Ive cleaned it out end of season when the place was open... I bet my house there is more than afew hundred bucks in bills and change in the bottom of it if it was never drained and cleaned.
