Aikido Jo Practice

Dave, James and Andrew having a little fun after class with the Jo. This is my first video, so it's not very good but we had fun playing with it. Keep in mind while watching - everyone here are students; with a lot to learn yet. I put these videos up in rememberance of our fun and slightly weird little club.

I just took some flack on the aikido board I frequent regarding the quality of these videos; and justifiably so. I thought I'd post a quick caveat here. Keep in mind, the people in these videos are students; not high-level practicioners. As a result, we're not what you'd call accomplished in any way; we're just having a bit of fun. :)

I think that's a little unfair. As nage, you need to be able to adapt your technique to uke's abilities, which requires flexibility, timing and control. That, in turn, takes a level of competence which I think these clips illustrate very well. Great stuff.

The clip is what it says it is, Aikido Jo Practice. A teacher and his students of various levels. It's clear enough to learn something from, that's how I judge a Jo video clip. It's very good stuff, everyone should learn it.
