  • That narrator sounds like Byers from The Lone Gunmen of X-Files fame!

  • This is a great poem, especially the ending.

  • It was an awesome zoo !!!! I was so sad to see it go !! Walking distance from Regent Park when we were kids. It closed when the "new" Metro Zoo opened in, I think 1975 ????

  • Great poem, and one of the best animated pieces the NFB ever did for the CBC.

  • John Robert Colombo is a fantastic Canadian. I corresponded with him several years ago - incredibly accommodating gentleman, and makes me feel great about my Canadian heritage.

  • When I moved to Toronto, I visited Riverdale Park with my children & walked across the Don River to the Riverdale Farm. The 'monkey cage' was still situated at the bottom of the hill on that path, a crumbling remnant left over from the time when this was the site of a zoo, in downtown Toronto. This poem bring back so many memories of times earlier, also. Good to see it here & thank you, John Robert. :-)
