A new study shines a light on the movements of much-maligned insects, showing that like the bigger-brained mammals, they use vision rather than touch to find footholds. In findings published in Current Biology, researchers describe using high-speed video cameras to capture for the first time the visually-guided movements of desert locusts negotiating their way along a miniature ladder.
