  • Since I have owned both a Catalina ('64) and a GTO ('67) I owe Mickey Thompson a person debt of gratitude.

I saw the potential that Pontiac had way back when I was 16 yrs old in '64

Mickey pushed Pontiac into making a Performance car.

My Catalina, powered by a stock 389 4bbl, was untouchable by any other basic stock car on the market except the 409 Chevy Impalas.

Pontiac owned the Saturday nite Stoplight drags in the Sedan category.

Thanks M.T. for my GTO, which was untouchable on every level.

  • The 1/4 mile times are incorrect . I am sure under foul weather car ran in the 12's but fact is the car did indeed break in to the 11's

  • 1963 Pontiac Tempest Lemans 421 Super Duty ( 2 x 4 barrel carbs ), "Running Bear" ran 1/4 mile in 11.89 seconds @ 123.28 MPH, September 1963, ( Pontiac Engineers/Knafel Pontiac ), the Prototype of upcoming new/first Muscle Car; Pontiac GTO !

  • And right across the river two of these very rare cars were just recently completed .Very rare cars indeed. The Big Sister of the GTO, 1963 Pontiac Super Duty Catalina Swiss Cheese cars.
