  • Thank you so much. The version on "Allies" (vinyl only, unfortunately) is IMHO the best solo vocal performance in the whole genre of rock or whatever you want to call it, by the man with the best voice. This is right up there with. Makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

  • I really love his voice.

  • What is this from? Who is he talking with?

  • It's from a solo concert at Farleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey March 16, 1974. He's interacting with the audience.

  • This is sensitively played and a tribute to Joni Mitchell who is an amazing writer, but you are too David...

  • David is a harmony singer, and he is phenomenal at it. Even he says that's what he is really about. He once said in an interview that he was put on this planet to sing harmony. However, I think he has done some really good lead vocals, like on "Guinnevere" and "Long Time Gone". He's just not as cut out for it as Stephen, Graham, Neil, or Roger, and nobody in this universe is as cut out for it as Joni.

  • Crosby has an incredibly warm and friendly voice...sounding effortless, but obviously not. Great version of a great song.

  • The version on Byrds 73 is great, but this is really amazing. So in control of his voice at this point.

  • Was this ever recorded on an album???

  • Love this song... this is a nice version... I think they were dating at one time, not sure if it was now. .

  • Was this a Crosby concert, exclusively?

"Cross-pollination" seems to be the norm these days, which offends me. I almost forgot that back in the day, this wasn't typically done. Crosby is so modest and almost apologizing for singing Joni; who better to play her music than him (among a few others, of course).

  • me too. on vinyl

  • perfect last six words

  • I slightly disagree with you. I think David Crosby is a phenomenal harmony singer, like you do, but i think he is an equaly phenomenal lead singer, i can´t think of any reason to consider him inferior as a lead singer.
