Clan of Xymox - Evelyn

Clan Of Xymox o también conocidos simplemente como Xymox, es una banda de música estilo Dark Wave/Rock gótico formada por Mojca Zugna, Mario Usai, Ronny Moorings y Agnes Jasper, aunque la formación original se basaba en Ronny Moorings, Pieter Nooten, y Anke Wolbert.

Holandeses. Comenzaron en 1984. Para ellos su estilo es indefinido, se acerca a la música electrónica, pero le dan sus toques personales, generalmente siniestros o más conocidos como Dark Wave.

De 1985 a 1988 sacaron sus primeros discos con la discográfica 4-AD (Cabe destacar que la discográfica 4-AD ha producido a grupos como The Pixies y Cocteau Twins), con un primer trabajo llamado como ellos, y el famoso disco Medusa, que para la mayoría de los fans de The Clan Of Xymox es uno de sus mejores trabajos. En 1988 topan con la discográfica Wing y acortar su nombre a Xymox. A partir del cambio de discográfica, The Clan Of Xymox (o Xymox) comenzó a aparecer en la lista Billboard y en diversas listas de música alternativa.

En 1989 sacaron uno de sus álbumes mejor vendidos, Twist of shadows, con el cual comenzaron una exitosa gira mundial. A partir de aquí sus álbumes tuvieron menos éxito, si nombramos, por ejemplo, el Phoenix o Metamorphosis.

En 1997 sacaron un disco que de nuevo les llevó de gira, en Hidden Faces, en el intento bastante bien logrado de hacer un flash-back a lo que fueron sus exitosos años 80.

Más tarde en 1999 y 2001 sacaron Creatures y Notes from the underground, respectivamente, encasillándose en los términos musicales de música gótica o goth rock.

Después de dos discos dentro de su estilo, Theres no tomorrow (2002) y Farewell (2003), pusieron a la venta un grandes éxitos con sus singles más destacados, véase Louise, Innocent, Muscoviet Mosquito o Farewell.

En el año 2006 pusieron a la venta dos nuevos discos, Weak in my knees y Breaking point, donde la gira se dirigió por Italia y Alemania promocionando éste último.

Cabe destacar la participación del grupo The Azoic entre otros en los remixes del Weak in my knees.

Hmmm, I have always had a special place in my heart for this band... Let's see, when I first heard them I was in the US Army sitting on a cot in Bosnia in 1995 waiting to go on a mission. I had never heard of this band until one of my gothic squad mates gave me the Medusa cd to "expose me to new emotions" in his words. Well, I have loved this band ever since. Great track!

I love his song and all the songs that preceded on the debut and "Medusa" ...with eh exception a of a few glimmering moments...Xymox of old triumphed because of what Pieter Nooten and Anke Wolbert contributed. post Anke and Pieter COX is for the most part pure drek.

idk how I went so long without getting into the darkwave genre. you can also understand how groups such as VNV Nation evolved from them. A mainstream comparison I suppose, but this sounds to me like a mixture between Nine Inch Nails and The Cure.
