@buffilms Budget was approx. $4 million according to imdb.com. Of course, that was in 1988. But even by today's standards, that's a really low budget.

although usualy I shy away from remakes I think there was a lot they could have done with the original that they didnt do so I might check out the remake if they are making it plus I would be interested to see what they do with the aliens.

@decoyicus Oh, I'm sure it could be done well if it were to be remade. It's a really great premise, actually, and still relevant today (if not more so... thanks crappy economy!).
