BirdLife Malta April 2010 - camera records violent attack from hunters possibly members of FKNK

BirdLife President Joseph Mangion said the violent attack took place on Sunday in Dingli. A Maltese BirdLife volunteer, Paul Debono, accompanied by an Italian birdwatcher were monitoring illegal shooting when two men approached in a white pick-up truck and immediately attacked them and shouted at them to get back to their country.

Sylvana Zarb Darmanin said:
Action should be taken against ALL THOSE CONTRAVENING THE LAW!!! Both sides acted illegally! BLM and Co are acting provocatively. Unfortunately and due to the tense situation prevailing, these property owners retaliated when defending their private property!

Dr L Gonzi, you should shoulder the responsibility for all this! You have treated the Maltese hunters in a shameful manner thus creating this situation. Furthermore, YOU are responsible for the enforcement of the law! You should ensure that nobody trespasses onto private property!

Meanwhile, the many law-abiding hunters from FKNK are stuck at home. I strongly believe that The Editor should act responsibly and refrain from uploading unfounded allegations against the many law-abiding hunters from FKNK!

These are not only maltese, greek or Balkan Birds...most of them are migratory birds which stay the summer in northern europe and go to south in winter.While we are protecting them with millions of euros to enlage the lean numbers of rare species these mindles traditionalists piss on it. We are not growing them here for your plates we are not in middle ages anymore where natural resurces and animals were endless;open your eyesthe birds are not your property you can destroy without concequences.
