I always thought pedobear was a nice way of teaching kids the dangers of the internet and to keep an eye out for perverts. You wouldn't tell a child directly to there face what a pedo is and scare the living shit out of them. I didn't think of it as a mascot.

Hahaha, I remember seeing the guy at 3:02 who grabs the kid and runs off! That was a Quakecon a few years ago, he always dresses up as pedobear and got a kick out of it when he found out he was on the news.
