Shirin Ebadi speaks about how the Iranian government demoted her from a position as a judge, and how a defeat such as this needs to push us harder to overcome our life's challenges.
Independent, outspoken, and incredibly intelligent, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shirin Ebadi is the first Iranian and first Muslim woman to win the coveted prize. As a woman in Iran, her life has paralleled the dramatic changes within her country, and her call for dissent and support for human rights has rung clear during the political and religious upheaval in the Middle East.

The English translator does not do her speech justice, the meaning is much nicer in Iranian.

Madame Ebadi,
Shoare Enghelab:
Esteghlal, Azadi, Jomhoorie Eslami!
The slogan of the revolution was:
Freedom, Independance, Islamique Republic!
And i know you are with western students, but hijab is not a problem in Iran and is seen as a great thing that happened to Iran.
Please if you want freedom in Iran, Do not attack Hijab or Islam because you wont achieve your goal and women and girls like me wont have any chance . We are not attacking Islam or Hijab in Iran.
