Wanted to share a little advice for anyone currently job hunting. Its easy to forget what is really important when looking for a job - think outside what you are told to do and start impressing.

  • Totally inapplicable to a career like mine. I'm a medical transcriber for a national company at home now for the last 10 years and have never met any of my supervisors or the recruiters face to face; it ALL had to be in my resume. And my job IS worth doing.

  • Thanks for sharing your story. Clearly this advice is not going to fit every scenario!

  • Try this site free 7 precepts of conversation com. The reason most people cant find work or any opportunity for that matter is because they don't know how to communicate. This is free download for you all to read and learn

  • I have 2 college degrees, and been thru 4 fly by night technical schools, and still cannot get anything... I am still looking for full-time meaningful employment. Anyone want to give me a job so I can pay off over $200,000 in higher education loans??? 9 years unemployed now and still looking!

  • My younger brother told me how to get a job, any job! You go in confident, like this video states, BUT, and heres the kicker... Go in with a infant in your arms to the interview, your head is a dangling jewelery store, and be under 24 and you are GUARANTEED a job there. It works for him, Doesnt work for me cuse I am not a walking jewelery store, NOT under 24 and am super smart and NOT had any children yet, not till I can take care of myself. Continued...............

  • @29bluesky I agree. I'm in a similar boat I used t make 40k, now I'm going for interview that only pay $9 an hour.

  • This is so pre-recession. It's now 2010 and if you dont have 5 years + in that exact industry then you wont get hired. And if your too exp. then you wont get hired. If your too old you wont get hired. face it you wont get hired. Nobody gives a s**t about your degree. Wow it was so different 4years ago. I remember making 50k and complaining about it. Now i cant find minimum wage

  • Hi Nygel36,thankyou so much for your informative posts about how Hawaii is to live.

I had dreams about starting a new life in Hawaii(even though I'm British).I had a Hawaiian friend too) but now I realised it would be too hard at 45.You saved me a lot of stress, time and money. thank-you for that.great posts, take care on that bike dude.....hope your happy?.

  • I've been out of work for nearly a year and have only landed two interviews, none since July '09. Even when applying to fast food they make you give them a copy of your resume and then say "if your skills and qualifications most closely match our needs we'll schedule you for an interview." They never do. Then a few weeks later some tweeker will be working there who has a bad attitude and rolls their eyes at you. Where do they find these people??? What's wrong with me???

  • @salps3 He says you have to sell yourself. Obviously you can't sell and are too negative to move forward in life. Color has nothing to do with it. I'm black too.
