How fantastic! Brilliant shows, which we will never see the like again. These were 'proper' television programmes. Thanks for posting.

i read about that. apparently he described her as a "talentless non-event", she riposted by saying he was rude and needed a haircut, upon which he replied it didn't matter because he was "a raving poof anyway"
does that tally with your memory of the event?

I enjoyed that, great post. I remember an edition of this show with Tsa Tsa Gabor and Peter Cook on the same show, she tried to belittle him saying she'd never heard of him, and he really ripped into her, it turned quite nasty! with Eamon trying to cool things down, love to see that again!

I remember this being parodied at the time as '....the show on which anything can happen,and almost never does!'
