  • Tis a shame to see a good f40ph like that get gutted and turned into a NPCU

  • True... but at least it still lives and roams the rail in some form, rather than shredded and in a junk yard.

  • Is the F40PH/NPCU always placed on the "west" (which I assume means Boston) end of the "Downeaster"?

  • Yes. This prevents Boston's North Station from filling up with diesel exhaust fumes.

  • Yes, that has been the standard Downeaster consist since the service began in 2001.

  • i didnt think they were rare, i thought that that was the standard downeaster. hmmm...
