Reef Kids Boat Building Project

Intro to the "Reef Kids International Boat Building Project".

The intent is to build the first of a series of Outrigger MUV boats in Hawaii, the second in Tonga, third in the Bahamas.

A website is being set up for educational exchange between Hawaii and Tonga including video feed of the boat being built with the help of children in opposite countries. Both Tongan and Hawaiian children live on small islands where sustainability of both land and sea is critical.

Children from Tonga, Hawaii, Korea, and around the world are part of the Marine Debris and Marine Education programs Reef Kids International conducts. Children who come to Aquacranial clinics are also educated on marine sustainability. Aquacranial Ocean Clinics precipitated our founding Reef Kids International to Sustain the Oceans for future generations to receive Aquacranial ,as well as food, in the Sea.

After talking story with the builder of the boat in this clip, Ty Goff was inspired to design the Outrigger MUV - a boat that blends the best of the ancient outrigger canoe's many forms with modern styles and eco/safety friendly drive systems.

The Outrigger MUV is sustainable in that it can easily earn its own maintenance upkeep and sips fuel under the load capacity to transport cargo and people.

However used - for fishing, island hopping, villager transport, whale watching - the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the MUV make it the ideal boat for island peoples.
