Dr Thomas Frieden head of CDC on C-Span said the 90,000 deaths predicted in the US were high and based on deaths in other countries we won't see that here unless the virus mutates. I might add in Australia where the flu season is winding down they had 147 deaths instead of the predicted 3,000 and the strain did not mutate. Other doctors are saying the same thing, this flu is much milder than what we were led to believe, which led to billions of dollars for the pharmaceutical companies and researchers of the swine flu according to Dr. Tom Jefferson of the Cochrane Collaboration, an epidemiologist that researches flu with other scientists for 15 yrs.

  • So my prediction of 2 to 5% death rate is too high then..

I still think could be certainly double what is was back in April and May.

Something hit me at work last night, like Y2K, when people said, see nothing happened, a con, and the reply was, no, you acted and so did others.

So if WHO gets it wrong, they will get out of it, by saying see the vaccine worked.

Trouble is, won't be available for a bit though.

    Tough one.

Only time will tell now either way, kids go back Monday in the UK.

  • What makes me think the CDC is correct is the fact that Australia now is just past the peak season for swine flu(winter there now) and instead of the 3,000 deaths predicted, they have had 147 so far. That means about 5% of the deaths predicted so far. Their deaths from regular seasonal flu if I remember correctly is 3 to 5,000 annually. I have also heard many other doctors say the swine flu is a mild flu. I believe the hype is for some other reason. JMO.

  • Maybe, so much to say, not enough room here.

Kids go back Monday in UK as far as I know.

They could defend themselves in few weeks time if no worse than spring again, and say it was because of the vaccine.

Only that is not available yet, certainly not in large numbers.

Who knows, only time will tell, all I'm concerned about is getting the message out on Tamiflu and vaccines and then letting people make up their own mind.

Something is going on, but time will tell how it will all pan out now.
