This entire video is a complete non-event. The reason nobody stopped him is cos they simply assumed he'd lost his key. He hasn't exactly proved how easy it is to steal a bike. When a thief is trying to steal a bike he isn't worried about members of the public, he's worried about the REAL OWNER turning up. All this guy has proved is that it's easy to steal a bike when you know nobody's gonna say "hey that's my bike" and proceed to beat the living daylights out of you.

They dont think hes stealing it if he had a hood on (was black) and checking over his shoulder every 10 seconds they would stop him or ask at least but hey who cares abouts some ones bike?

It proves that people are fucking cowards. I walked out of a club in Seattle and a big guy was punching a woman in the face. Hard. Everyone, including the bouncer acted like nothing was happening. I grabbed the guy by the throat and no one did anything when three friends tried to intervene and beat my ass. Two of my friends came by and they woman-beater and pals high-tailed it. I guarantee that dude will think twice before hitting a woman in public. As I said, people are cowards.

No, it proves that if you're confident about it, the public will assume it's your bike without even asking, which gives thieves a particularly easy environment within which to work. If there was legitimate public scrutiny and a desire to intervene, theft would go down.

The chances the real owner turns up in the 30 seconds - 6 minutes it took him to steal the bike is incredibly unlikely. Especially if you are an experienced bike thief with locations you know well. Assuming someone lost their key while going at a bike with a hacksaw is quite a stretch.

Your 54 upvotes are entirely undeserved.

Why didn't you guys use a U-lock? I would have used a U-lock and parked away from any outlet. Then you'd have to use an extension cord to power the angle grinder. Would have been GREAT to watch people tripping over the cord and sparks flying everywhere!

    Part 2?
