I really felt sad for that cat that got desintigrated in the transporting failure. I thought that was the most disturbing part of this classic horror movie

yeah.... then you hear him meow after he dissapeared. This story has a "beautiful" love story as well as an awesome horror movie.

That's pretty much what happened to 'horror' movies generally... they really just rely more and more on utterly disgusting the viewer instead of the more subtle and difficult note of fright, uncanniness, suspense.

It's even more true now, with 2000s movies, than with the 86 Fly and other 80s ones.... it just gets worse and worse.
