Howard Rangers travelled to Gretna today with a much depleted squad and had to ask one of it veterans Andrew Small to come out of retirement at 48 to help them out, but the lads that turned out did the club proud as they almost came away with the 3 points.
Gretna started the brighter and Howard Rangers keeper Mark Graham kept his team in the game in the first 20 minutes with some superb saves
Howard Rangers were given another problem after losing Mark Swinglehurst after 20 mins who bravely started with an knee injury, but he couldn't continue after taking another knock, that left a problem with no other strikers available so it was now a makeshift forward line with Chris Armstrong now asked to lead the attack
Gretna eventually took the lead around the half hour mark when a well taken Simon Kirk corner found Chris Hall who made no mistake with a looping header into the top corner. That was a big blow for Howard Rangers who were starting to get themselves into the game, just before half time Aiden Hanley had a great chance but his shot was straight at the keeper, then a gilt edge chance for Chris Armstrong, but his header was just wide. Half time 1-0
